Guided Drawing–snails!

When  teaching a unit on Australian Animals what other focus could their be other than their food.

In particular lizard food…

snails!!

Today the Little Learners completed a guided drawing activity drawing snails to consolidate what we had learnt and for a little arty fun.  We learnt that Blue Tongue Lizards and Frilled neck Lizards love eating them. Mmm…yum!

Next we completed step 1 and 2 of a four part art process.

Step 1. We discussed food for lizards…you guessed it, SNAILS!! In hindsight it was a little sick making snails after discussing them as lizard food. LOL Open-mouthed smile

Step 2. The Little Learners participated in a process drawing/guided drawing lesson.  They coloured their drawings using wax crayons.

Step 3. Next the Little Learners will outline their snails using black wax crayon.

Step 4. Finally the whole picture will be covered in a dye wash to bring out the wax colours.
{might even add a glittery trail while the dye is wet.}

We are on the way!  Check in tomorrow for the final product.

Happy Wednesday!
